One sizzling summer in Ansedonia, a coastal town in South Tuscany, opposite the legendary Il Pelicano hotel, an idea for Nasty & Dangerous was born.
A few years passed, and finally its implementation came to fruition.
The concept of Nasty & Dangerous is to elevate legendary figures of the 20th century that have been the driving force behind politics, industrial growth and global business, which have shaped our culture and history. By combining imagery of these iconic figures with allusions to modern and contemporary art, the aim is to create high quality garments that allow one to “wear one’s culture on one’s sleeve”. 1
Fashion is an inferred language and through Nasty & Dangerous one is able to demonstrate their appreciation for the memorable and unique characters of the past. These have been lost in the chaos of a digital, social media driven landscape that centres around the phenomenon that Andy Warhol once famously predicted: “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes”.
Nasty & Dangerous commemorates their importance by creating an ‘If you know, you know’ community, in its own way a private member’s club, for people to communicate their stance through garments. By adorning Nasty & Dangerous one conveys to those around one’s stance, attitude and recognition of art and culture, an unspoken conversation, a nod, a signal, a confidence.
